New York City in Minitown USA at the Legoland California Resort officially opened on June 30, 2016 and we were there to share in the grand opening! We were greeted by Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty and treated to a brass band playing New York-themed songs. Carlsbad police were honored as first responder representatives for the 9-11 and One World Trade Center memorials and cut the ribbon to officially open New York City Minitown.
One of the standout figures in the new minitown is the One World Trade Center. This is actually THE tallest LEGO building in the United States. Right here in San Diego! It stands 26 feet and weighs more
than 1,000 pounds. How cool is that?
Captured in time lapse video, it took a team of eight Master
Model Builders more than 1200 hours to complete the majestic model.
The One
World Trade Center and New York City cluster
in Miniland U.S.A. open just in time for Legoland Resort’s Red White and Boom! 4th
of the July celebration. The family fun
event features activities such as water-balloon tosses, burlap
sack races, patriotic
stroller parade, building activities and a
fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. The new LEGO models and Independence Day event are included with the price of admission to LEGOLAND California Resort. Go see New York City Miniland today!
